LOCATION

Situated between H2O Xtreme and the Civic Centre, Whirinaki Whare Taonga is located at 836 Fergusson Drive in Upper Hutt, New Zealand. Use Google Maps to help plan your journey.

PARKING

Parking is plentiful and free, but be aware of time restricted parking.

Street parking is available at the front of the building on Fergusson Drive, with a large carpark also located across the road which is accessible via Criterion Lane.

Further parking can be found at the rear of the building via Brown Street. Parking at the rear of the builing is shared with H2O Xtreme and dedicated bus parking can be found here. To enter Whirinaki from the rear carpark, utilise the alleyway between Whirinaki and the Civic Centre.

Accessible Parking

Accessible parking is available in front of Upper Hutt Central Library (Fergusson Drive) and in the rear carpark next to H20 Xtreme (Brown Street). 

Public Transport

The closest bus stop is located on Wilson Street and the Upper Hutt Train Station is just a 5 minute walk away. Use the Metlink website to plan your journey.

Theatre Accessibility

When booking your tickets for a show or event at Whirinaki Whare Taonga please advise of any special requirements you may have. Wheelchair seating for our theatre can be purchased over the phone by calling 04 527 2168 or in-person at reception.

Wheelchairs

We offer a wheelchair for public use in the art galleries and theatre, please advise a staff member should you require it for use.

A lift is available between the ground floor foyer and Gillies Group Theatre which his located on level two.

Accessible Toilets

Two unisex accessible toilets are located on the ground floor of the Rotary Foyer.

Hearing Loop

We have a hearing loop operating in the theatre for the hearing impaired, please advise a staff member if you are experiencing any difficulty.

Guide Dogs

Certified Disability Assist Dogs are welcome throughout the facility.

Photography

Photos can be taken at most times when visiting Whirinaki. When are 'No photography' sign is displayed, photos are not permitted. If you are unsure, ask our staff at reception.
